A compact fluorescent light (CFL), also known as a compact fluorescent lamp or energy saver light (or less commonly as a compact fluorescent tubelight), is a type of fluorescent lamp. Several CFLs are designed to replace an incandescent lamp and can fit into most existing light fixtures formerly used for incandescents.
A spiral-type integrated CFL. This style has slightly reduced efficiency compared to tubular fluorescent lamps, due to the excessively thick layer of phosphor on the lower side of the twist.
